I recently upgraded from OS X 10.4 to 10.6.8.  Now, my HP DeskJet 935c will only print on one side.

At first, I couldn't print at all. I deleted and reinstalled the driver (the latest seems to be for 10.5), at which point I could print, but the Two-sided print box does not show up.  Under Layout (from 3rd drop-down menu on print window), I can see a "Two-sided" option, but the selection is grayed out.  I have the duplex unit and have been printing on both sides for years, so it's not the hardware.  I also have tried changing the driver through Print & Fax (System Preferences).  The printer shows up as HP DESKJET 930C; I can't remember whether that was the case before.  I've tried both the HP DeskJet 930c and 935c Gutenprint v5.2.3 drivers (and a different one initially, I think).  ...  I no longer have the Print Quality selection options (Draft, Standard, Best) I had before either.  I can't remember the other options I had, but I have eight (some of which are not really options) and I think I used to have about twelve.

My printer is not listed at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#HP.

Does anyone know whether there's a solution to this problem?  A new driver under development?

Hi,

Unfortunately, a new driver will not become available as the product is not supported with any Mac SO X higher then v10.5.

The same information listed for the Deskjet 930c apply for the 935C as part of the same series:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01856359

According the following discussion, there is some known issue with duplex printing for some older deskjet models:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-print/forums/forum/4358/topic/3563875

As written in here, the user reported that he was able to it by using the HPIJS drivers.

Hope you may this information useful for the problem,

Shlomi

Thanks, Shiomi, it worked! Let's hear it for saving paper with two-sided printing!

What worked?

Shlomi and Honor Student, you have to spell it out!

How do I get my

 DeskJet 935c

to print double sided with a Mac OS higher than 10.5?

What is the HPIJS ( the link did not get me to anything useful)?

Huge Thanks, if anybody can answer this!
