Thanks,Bob, that does work for Word documents. However, I print mostly from PDFs, Web pages and e-mails and it doesn't work for them the way my old computer does with the old driver. Can I get my old driver onto my new computer? That looks like the only way as the cost of a duplexer seems to be a lot more than the printer cost if one can be found at all for a 2600 series. Cheers,
Do you have a 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows 7? If your new operating system is 32 bit Windows 7 you may be able to install the old driver. As for the duplexer cost, a google search turns up some here under $40 and some on eBay for much less. I have had good results buying used ones on eBay, there is not much in them that can wear out or go wrong.

Thanks, Bob. My Windows7 is 32bit. How would I go about transferring the driver from my old XP?
Cheers,
PS. Am looking at maybe buying duplexer. Price on the one you directed to me looks good although shipping and bank fees make total cost 3x part cost.

Problem solved. The Nero program has it's own print menu that is very similar to the HP menu. After printing the odd pages and turning the pages around in the printer, it is necessary to click on an obscure box in order to print in reverse so the page numbering is correct. In other words, the problem had nothing to do with the HP printer, but everything to do with the Nero program. Thanks for trying, though. Sorry things tookk so long, but busy is as busy does.

OJ 7310xi A-I-O printing duplexed pdf file; winds up with wider right margin; this is supposed to be multiple copies of an 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 inch buletin insert for church and the uneven margins make in unusble since the whole thing is shfted to the right. Cutting in half means one side us not quite complete. Have tried different settings for shrink, adjust to printable area, etc. The same file DOES print properly(correct margins) on my Laserjet 2645dn (different location, now Windows 7 but formerly Vista), so I am quite sure it is not thepdf file itself. Windows Vista. No access to internet at the church so I need a solution I can print or carry on a thumb drive.

Hello
Printer : HP LaserJet 1606dn, connected to my home network with a fixed IP address.
I have a problem with auto duplex printing in Word 2010
I have 3 pc’s connected to my home network .
PC1 , win7, 64b, office 2010 , here the auto duplex function does not work in word 2010
In the printer setting menu offers only : duplex (manual).
In Excel however the duplex auto function works . no problem.
PC2, win7, 32b, also connected to the networked 1606dn printer, office 2007, here no problem with the auto duplex function in word 2007 and other programs..
PC3, vista, office 2003, also connected to the networked 1606dn printer , here no problem with the auto duplex function in word 2003 and other programs.
It seems that auto duplex and word 2010 does not work.
Any suggestions for enabling auto-duplexing in word 2010?

Hi Bart,
You should be getting Automatic duplex option while printing from MS Word as well.
Few Setting to check
1.Go to Device and Printer->right click on HP LJ 1606dn and go to printer properties
2.Now go to “Device Setting Tab” and then look for “Duplex mode”
3. Check both the option “Allow Automatic Duplexing” and “Allow Manual Duplexing”
4. Click on Apply and Ok to save the setting.
Now let’s go back to printer properties->Printing Preferences->Finishing tab-, Now you should see print on both side (Automatically) listed, click on check box to enable it.
Now try printing 2 pages document from MS word 2010 to test the function.
Try to open any word document, click file->print-> choose your default printers.
On the same screen you will see settings tab, Make sure to select Print on both Sides (Flip Pages on long edge) then print. It should print properly.
(Note: In word 2010 you have these setting to flip up long edge and short edge, so make sure to choose depending on your needs) Similarly you will find setting in printer drivers in finishing tab just leave this setting as is do not select long edge and short edge.
Sometimes the settings in the application will take precedent over what is in the printer driver.

This clearly is a Microsoft issue. I wonder if they monitor this forum. My Word 2010 version is 14.0.6112.5000 (32 bit) [File, Help, about Microsoft Word]. My friend's version that prints duplex properly is 14.0.4760.1000.

Hi muj851,
sorry for the late reply, Holiday
Thank you very much for your answer.
this (see below, 1,2,3,4) is what I did already weeks ago but I checked it again today, with no result.
I did point 1)2.)3) 4) excactly as you wrote. I went back to Word 2010 --> printer properties->Printing Preferences->Finishing tab and now again I did not see print on both side (Automatically) I saw -->
print on both side (manual)
It is very strange because in Excel or other Programs on this PC I can see print on both side (Automatically)
With Word 2003 and Word 2007 on other PC's I have no Problem at all with the auto duplex.
I have only a problem with Word 2010 and auto duplex.
Hope somebody can help me or someone can verify the same Problem.
This is what I did:
Few Setting to check
1.Go to Device and Printer->right click on HP LJ 1606dn and go to printer properties
2.Now go to “Device Setting Tab” and then look for “Duplex mode”
3. Check both the option “Allow Automatic Duplexing” and “Allow Manual Duplexing”
4. Click on Apply and Ok to save the setting.

Hi! I have a OfficeJet 6480 all-in-one, with Windows 7 (32 bit), MS Office 2010, and the latest HP software installed. My problem is that, if I try to print out a multi-page document, double-sided, that has a blank page for the last page, the printer only prints the last page. For example, a powerpoint handout (three slides to a page) that has 45 slides, that should print 15 pages (backside of page 15 is blank), prints only page 15. If I tell the printer I only want slides 1-42 printed, everything works well. Also, if I add a blank slide (#46) to the presentation, it also works well. If I go inter printer properties and try reversing the print order (front to back), it still only prints the last page. Adobe seems to work OK, but it prints first page first. Will the duplex printing fix you mention in your post work for me also? Thanks!
