C410a moves the image, changing the margons, making folding cards, brochures, etc. out of registration.

I do not know about the C410a specifically, but typically for the front side the top margin will be 0.08" and the botton margin will be 0.46".  The back side is actaully printed from bottom to top and the margins are reveresd; the top margin is typically 0.46" and the bottom margin 0.08".  You will typically need to correct for this when printing in duplex mode by adjusting the margins appropriately.

Thanks Bob, but some programs (Hallmark Card Studio, and others) do not give any options for changing margins. The C410a has built-in duplexing, and I see no way to remove that part as in those printers with an attachment for it.

When duplexing with this printer, the margins are shifted 1/2 inch or so on both sides, which makes folded cards and brochures considerably off-center.

Oddly, when a program (Card Studio) produces a 2-sided card, even when telling the printer to print one side at a time for manual duplexing, the images is still shifted, creating an off-center card.

Apparently, the design of the duplexing mechanical parts causes this so that the paper will "catch" in the proper position to feed itself back through for the second side. This is a mechanical issue that the engineers/designers, could very easily correct. At the very least, this issue should be thoroughly explained in the advertising and/or technical specs for the printer.

Otherwise just do away with the "automatic" attachment duplexing altogether.

This is extremely frustrating and makes my wife's card program virtually useless. It'd be nice if HP would focus on real mechanical/technical uses more and less on junk like ePrint, Smart Web printing, online photo, etc. We'd love to go back to the way our 6180 worked with manual duplexing. Unfortunately, we had to purchase a new printer because the 6180 was squirting ink all over the inside of the printer.

I do not have Card Studio, but my first suggestion would be to print the front side, then print the second sides in a seperate operation.  (I assume Card Studio must support this to allow for printing on printers that do not offer duplex printing?)  What version of Card Studio do you have?  It appears therre is a new veersion every year, with Duplex support added about 2006.  You might have success searching the Hallmark Card Studio support forum here or chat with Hallmark support here.

Hi, I am having trouble getting my unit to print to both sides. I have the following:

Printer- CM2320nf (additional tray 3 installed; CB500A)

Latest firmware- 20110228

System OS- Win7 x64

Connected via LAN

I have set the duplexing and tray-3 options under printer properties and device settings but nothing seems to get it to print two sided.

Any help would be appreciated and if you ned more inbfo, let me know.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for looking into this. Card Studio does support duplex printing. And, we discovered that we can print one side at a time. However, even then, the margins must be changed to use this printer. For those who don't want to fool around with changing margins, this printer is a pain. Also, it absolutely precludes borderless printing, so images must be resized where possible, as well as changing the margins. Even my old Word docs have to have the margins changed to use the duplex feature. Overall, the auto duplex feature of this printer is more trouble than a printer without it. It just wasn't that hard to print one side at a time and turn the paper around and reinsert it. This feature is an absolute waste, and will see little, if any, use. I repeat. It would be good if HP engineers/designers would focus on usability, rather than fluff.

hp LaserJet P2015dn, duplex printing was working on Windows 7 x86 hp universal ps and PCL6 driver 5.2 without any issues. New machine with Windows 7 x64, loaded hp universal ps driver 5.3 x64. Duplex printing became manual, even driver is detecting duplex unit is installed.

Sorry the duplex printing does not meet your needs.  I find it indispensable and would consider duplexing a checkbox item in any printer I get.

I do not think you will find a printer anywhere that will do automatic duplexing with full borderless printing.

I am have the same Problem in Windows 7! and it''s HP"s Fault! HP's Will not fix their Disconnection Software in the Driver Package! So Dummy did not translate it right for Vista and 7! A lot of HP Printers With Duplexer have the same Problem HP! What you can do to temp-fix it is go to the Control Panel, Select Devices and Printers, and right click on the the printer and it's either ( Printer Properties, Device Settings tab) or (Printing Preferences, Advanced tab) You'll See Something Like Duplex Auto-Detect , Just Switch it to Manual! and then go in to the Printing Preferences and Select the Two Sided Printing Option! and You Should Be Good to Go! I Hope this Helps You! Have a Nice Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:

Sorry, I do not have any expertise in any of the duplexing capable Laserjet products.  One thing to check would be the tray settings - at least on my Officejet 7410 I can only duplex print from the main tray.  You may have better success posting your question in a seperate thread with a title like "Duplexing Issue in CM2320nf / Windows 7".  You might also try posting in the HP Enterprise Forum, they have better expertise in the Laserjet products.

What if when you go to Advanced Features-->Installed Options.....there's nothing under Installed options? Does that mean it can't be enabled and this printer just simply won't do it???

I have a Photosmart B209a I am trying to get to print duplex automatically with an attached duplexer.
