I am having the same problem and I'm hoping that PrintDoc (or somebody) can help me.
I changed my router to a D-Link DIR-868L last week. My Photosmart 7510 was working fine until tonight. It is now getting an IP address of 169.254.* Because of that, I can't attach to it via a web browser. I tried firing up an old OfficeJet 4500 and, although it says it is connected, I can't print to that, either. WIth that one, I'll have to put in a new ink cartridge to print out the IP address, but I figure it's probably the same problem.
None of my other devices are having this problem.
Is there a way to access the internal configuration of the printer to set the IP address via a USB connection? Is there another way to resolve this?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

On the front of the printer, go to Setup > Wireless > Restore Defaults.
Now, from the same Wireless menu, run the Wireless Setup WIzard to connect the printer to your new router.

Thanks for the quick response PrintDoc.
I tried what you suggested to no avail. However, I noticed when scrolling down to the Reset Network Defaults that there was a way to manually assign an IP address.
It took a lot of playing around, but what finally worked was.
- Reset Network Defaults
- Manually Set IP Address and DHCP Server Address (The DHCP Address was wrong)
- Reserve the IP Address on the router (so it doesn't assign that address to another device)
- Run Wireless Setup Wizard
I'm up and running now.
Thanks!

I wanted to provide an update. My earlier solution worked for about a day, then stopped working again. I called D-Link support and they reviewed the router's settings. It turns out that the 2.4g network was auto-set to channel 1. They had me change the setting to channel 6 and the printer (and other devices having communication problems) immediately started working again.
On the call, they told me to try channel 6 first, and if that didn't fix the problem try 9, then 11.
If I had it all to do over again, I would try to change the channel before hard coding the IP address.

I'm having a similar issue however I'm using a USB cable to connect my mac to the photosmart printer. The printer worked well until I installed microsoft office on my mac and since then I've had issues. I've checked my connections and I have had something print since I've installed office - but at the moment - I can not get anything to print and I'm getting the printer is off line message. Thanks for your help

Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
Restart your Mac.
Reset the printing system:
- Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
- Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and then next to the "Use" pulldown, select the printer model (not AirPrint). Wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

Same problem here, not sure if it"s since Mavericks but that could very well be the issue.
I reset the print system, restarted the router and it worked (10 days ago). I turn it on today to scan something and nothing!
