I have the distinct feeling it has to do with this printers builtin support for Airprint. This requires Apples Bonjour, which in turn relies on multicast DNS support on the router's lan and wlan .
I think this is where it all flaws miserably. There are *many*, *REALLY MANY* routers out there that not support this, or not fully support this, or bug out on it.

Hi
After additional testing I have determined that this is by design to reactivate scan to computer. This was to eliminate some other issues.

>' by design.... to eliminate some other issues...'
Unbelievable. So HP actually tells me with dry eyes that this is not a bug but a feature?????
I think it is time to fire all your software engineers HP. They SUCK!

Everyone, please understand that this is business as usual for HP.
Ever since HP went "big" into the mainstream, the performance and support has been subpar, just like Compaq...
HP makes really good hardware with the promise of wonderful capabilities, but always falls short on the drivers to run it..
3-4 years ago, I bought a Canon MX860 Network Multifunction. I have installed it on every machine I own, and it works flawlessly, and as expected. No computer user intervention needed to scan to the computer. Listen: I go away for trips for months, come home, and as long as my computer is on (either the desktop at home or the laptop I just brought back) it shows up in the printers scan menu and sends the scan directly to it. Never any hassles. It just works. Try that HP!
I never would have bought another HP (I have learned my lessons too many times) except it was the only decent Multifunction I could get in Jamaica on short notice. Now I have to walk back and forth across a whole office building to get scans sent to a machine. Ridiculous!
Never again HP! I have suffered through offices clogged with your useless unsupported junk for too much of my life!

It is pretty sad to see so many people are disappointed. Even more sad to see that HP couldn't care less.
Lesson learned I guess. No more of this american hardware **bleep** for me, or the company I work for..

Are you not able to scan AT ALL?
Our problem here, is that we can scan, but only for a while, or until the computer is restarted, etc. Then the ACTIVATE TO SCAN must be again reactivated. Our problem is that one should not have to keep reactiving this. Sometimes, even without the computer restarting, the scan feature "forgets" it has a computer to scan to.
