The error code "0*00000015 Not ready to use" on your HP PSC 1402 printer can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to try and resolve it. This error often indicates a communication problem between your computer and the printer. Here's a step-by-step troubleshooting guide to help you resolve the issue.

Restart Your Printer and Computer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Shut down your computer.
  • Wait for a minute, then plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Restart your computer.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Ensure that all cables connecting the printer to the computer are securely plugged in.
  • Make sure there are no paper jams or other physical obstructions inside the printer.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause communication problems. Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers for your HP PSC 1402 printer. Install them on your computer.

Run Windows Troubleshooter:

  • In some cases, running the built-in Windows Troubleshooter for printers might help resolve the issue.
    • Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners."
    • Select your HP PSC 1402 printer.
    • Click "Run the troubleshooter" and follow the on-screen instructions.

Check Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) Service:

  • Make sure the Windows Image Acquisition service is running. This service is essential for scanning and communication with the printer.
    • Press Win + R, type "services.msc," and press Enter.
    • Locate "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)" in the list of services.
    • Right-click it and select "Start" if it's not already running.

Check Print Spooler Service:

  • The Print Spooler service is also critical for printing. Make sure it's running.
    • Press Win + R, type "services.msc," and press Enter.
    • Locate "Print Spooler" in the list of services.
    • Right-click it and select "Start" if it's not already running.

Check Shell Hardware Detection Service:

  • Shell Hardware Detection is important for detecting and communicating with hardware devices.
    • Press Win + R, type "services.msc," and press Enter.
    • Locate "Shell Hardware Detection" in the list of services.
    • Right-click it and select "Start" if it's not already running.

Reinstall the Printer:

  • If the issue persists, try removing the printer from your computer and then re-installing it.
    • Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners."
    • Select your HP PSC 1402 printer and click "Remove device."
    • Re-add the printer and follow the on-screen instructions.

Update Your Operating System:

  • Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date with the latest updates and patches.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the "0*00000015 Not ready to use" error on your HP PSC 1402 printer.
