Hi @jacquelynsaurio,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To update your HP OfficeJet 5740 printer to use it with a fiber optic connection instead of WiFi, you don't necessarily need to update the printer itself. Instead, you need to configure your network settings to connect the printer to your fiber optic network. Here's what you can do.

  • Connect Printer to Network: First, ensure that your printer is connected to your fiber optic network via an Ethernet cable. Most modern printers, including the HP Officejet 5740, have Ethernet ports for wired connections.
  • Access Printer Settings: On the printer's control panel, navigate to the network settings or setup menu. The exact steps might vary slightly depending on the model, but generally, you should find network settings in the printer's menu.
  • Configure Network Settings: In the network settings menu, you should see options for configuring network connections. Look for the Ethernet or wired network settings, and select it. You may need to enter your network's SSID (network name) and password if prompted.
  • Verify Connection: Once you've entered the network details, the printer will attempt to connect to your fiber optic network. Make sure that the connection is successful. You may see confirmation messages on the printer's display.
  • Test Printing: After configuring the network settings, perform a test print to ensure that the printer is properly connected to the network and can communicate with your devices.

By following these steps, you should be able to update your HP Officejet 5740 printer to use it with your fiber optic network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
