Since 2 days ago when trying to use shortcuts function on the printer it says: connection problem The printer was unable to connect to the server.

I have followed and tried all the solutions in this discussion https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-Copying/HP-Smart-Tasks-The-printer-was-unable-to-conne...

including resetting to factory restore but the problem persists. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks for replying and trying to help.

Unfortunately it does not resolve the issue.

Before posting this thread I've checked all the mentioned settings.

My access to shotcuts expires in 1096 days, so it should work but on my printer it says: connection problem The printer was unable to connect to the server.

Can anyone @HP PLEASE help me?

Seriously guys. What's up with this? You have an excellent all in one printer which has suddenly been robbed of one of its best functions. Surely there's someone at HP who cares about this and can resolve it. You are a great software and hardware company with an enviable legacy. Step up to the plate!!!

Forgot to mention:

When I log in into printer web server under Scan, Shortcut, Accounts I do not see any accounts registered under the account list.

I will send your request to our Community moderators.

 

  • Be ready to include your Operating System / version and how the system is connected to the network.
  • Check your Web Services connection, too - perhaps stop and then restart Web Services.
  • Check the SSID / IPv4 setup in the network - assign a manual / static IP address (in router and on printer) -- connect the printer to the SSID named network / frequency you want it to use (2.4 GHz / 5GHz).
  • Check the router - connection errors might be listed in the router logs.
  • If you have not done so, consider Restarting everything, including the router.
  • Make sure that all devices where HP Smart is installed are running the latest version of the app for that device platform.
  • The agent, should one respond, might also ask you to repeat other tests or or recheck / report settings.

Have tried all of that. Router is fine and all connected aspects working perfectly including what HP calls "Apps" that have some of the functionality that Shortcuts had, but many more steps to get to upload to Dropbox for instance. Still can use Shortcuts from the iOS HP Smart app but cannot get to the shortcuts on the printer even though they are "enabled" and shown to be active for 364 more days. Please someone at HP can you fix this.

Hi, No community moderator ever contacted me.

Just to let you know that I'm a network specialist and judging by your questions it's clear to me that you don't truly understand the issue.

It's clear to me that the issue is at the server end of HP.

It has nothing to do with OS or way that it's connected to network.

Everything worked for years in the same configuration that it is now until suddenly it stopped.

But since you ask I will answer:

OS: windows 11 latest update 

Issue is the same if it's connected by WiFi or cable.

Web services are connected and working.

No router or connection errors.

Everything with Hp smart is latest version.

The issue is at hp.

It's as if hp switched on a kill switch to the shortcut service from the printer.

Shortcut is functioning from pc via hp smart app but not directly from printer

I have tried a factory default and issue persists.

Moreover I have the same printer by my parents and they have the same issue since a couple of weeks.

It's clear to me that the issue is at HP's end.

I am unable to address anything "on HP's side" of any service.

I've started having this issue in the last few weeks. I've tried a dozen different solutions I've found online and nothing works. Shortcuts is the primary way that I use my printer, so if this doesn't get resolved, I will have to go out and buy another printer (and never buy another HP product again).
