HP ProDesk 400 G2 Microtower PC
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I'm here to ask if I could replace my 4th gen HP motherboard to a newer 6th or 7th gen one just so I could do some upgrades and stuff without bottlenecking the CPU

If someone could help me solve my question  well thank you for helping me.

It appears to me that the best motherboard you can install in your PC would be a motherboard from the HP Pro 400 G3 MT, which seems to use the same case as the G2.

HP ProDesk 400 G3 MT 8GB RAM 3.20GHz Intel Core 6th gen i5-6500 1TB HDD; 6113761 | eBay

You will need new memory (the G3 uses DDR4 memory), heatsink and an Intel 6th gen core processor, and make sure the motherboard has a product key in the BIOS because your existing operating system will need re-activation with a motherboard replacement.

I'm thinking you would save money in the short and long term by buying an off-lease HP business class PC, because it will probably cost less than buying parts to install in your PC's case.

Look into a Prodesk 600 G2 or G3.

They are slightly better models than the Prodesk 400 series.

Thanks for the answer but another question,is it possible to fit a 10th gen or 8th gen motherboard in the case?

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, that would not be possible.
