My HP Pavilion x2 Detachable 10-n113dx has a black screen. It will charge and the light indicating the device is on turns on but the screen stays completely black it never once dispalys anything. It's really irritating because the tablet is only 3 months old

First try a soft reset by holding the power button for about 10 seconds.  Wait another 10 seconds and then press the power button to turn it on.

If this fails, it may be a hardware problem (e.g. backlight burned out, motherboard not working, etc.)  Sometimes if you hold it the right angle in the light, you can see that the display is booting because something is there very dim, such as the logon screen.  If you can see this, it is probably the backlight; if not, it may be the motherboard.

In any case, it should be covered by your warranty.  You should contact HP support and have them go through the tests with you and they will get you warranty support if that is what you need.  If it's a refurbished unit, you should do so right away since the warranty is only 90 days.
