I find that if you shut down your device your batter life will be prolong, however, if it is only in sleep mode then your battery will drain sooner.

I plug my TP every other night only because I don't like to shut it down.  I like the FB exhibition mode.

Your screen is set to the highest brightness. Not good for battery life.

Thank you, that would help as well.

Found out that when the battery symbol is showing in the middle of the screen you have to reset the tablet . To do this you must press both the power button and the return button at the same time holding both until the screen goes blank. The tablet will reboot on its own, enjoy this tip .

That is not accurate. It will start up by itself when the charge reaches a certain point. Both the HP/Palm phones and tablets work this way.

I just had the same problem.  It was an all black screen with some sort of white symbol in the middle of the screen with an arrow pointing sideways (depending on which way you held the touch pad).  Thank God for this site.  I thought it was completely gone until I read on this site about holding the two buttons together.  I would have never thought to do that!!  Thank goodness!!  BTW..., I love mine!!!  🙂  Once again happy!!

Read the post.  I had the same trouble and read the post and mine is fixed.  Just hold your two buttons in at the same time for about 15 seconds and it should reboot.  Good luck!!

Hi,

I think my touchpad has a bigger problem.

The symbol showed up when I plugged in the charger. So I did a search and found this post. Followed what you guys said: pushing power button and center button together for 15 s to reboot the touchpad. Yes. It did reboot the touchpad. But a couple of seconds later, the symbol appeared again. Rebooted, it appeared again,again....

Looks the symbol will stay there for ever....

Any thoughts what the problem might be? The battery totally dead?

Thanks!

You may need to wait it out, I was having the same problem, tried to reboot the device by holding the power and return button simultaneously for 15 secs many times, nothing happened, then I left the device alone for about 10 mins, eventually it rebooted up by itself and showed  only 1% battery power left. Be patient, the key combination should work.

I had a bad AC charger & bad USB charger. Got online chat w/HP and did a little trouble shooting for their sake & they are sending me new ones! thanks HP for replacing them w/out a HUGE headache!

My AC (D battery looking charger) was bad, I heard "sparks" inside as if it was a short & it probably shorted out the USB cable also.
