I have an elitebook 840 G6 and about a week ago the touch stick and associated buttons just stopped working.
I had made no changes, i just went to use the buttons and got no response. It was then i noted the stick itself was not working.
So far i have tried the following.
removing all touchpad and pointing device drivers and reinstalling - no effect - pad works, pointer and buttons dont function.
installing older synaptics drivers to get acccess to the synaptics software to be able to turn devices on and off - no effect - apart from making windows crash on boot which led to a fight with bitlocker and then regedit to disable the synaptics software so i could get in to windows again and remove it.
updating i2c drivers - even though the pointing device claims to be ps2 - no effect.
i ran up ubuntu on my computer and again, touchpad works, stick and buttons dont. so i'm now thinking hardware.
am i missing a keyboard combination or something that could turn the stick and buttons off?
