@zoomoose
Hi,
Have You got connect any external HDD, pendriver or flash card while You are installing Windows 7?
If yes then unplug them and this problem should be solved.

I'm not sure of your exat problem with the BIOS. It won't install? What needs to be more open? What is the exact model number of your laptop, There should be a sticker on the bottom.

I have an HP dv9700cto. I successfully did a lateral transport on the OS from Vista Ultimate 64 to Win 7 Home premium 64. I use my notebook in teaching some I will dual screen several times a class. About 2 weeks ago, I started to havee purplish dots on the screen that would change as information on my screen changed. Also I was having problem with my NVIDA driver failing and win7 recovering.
After some web crawling on various sites including here, I should see if I can change (slow) the NVIDA card down. The present F.59 bios for the system as very little the use can do.
The problem has gotten significantly worse until today when it stops completely after a few minutes. So I will be calling HP tomorrow to see what it will take to have the motherboard replaced.(Besides all of the time needed to re-install Vista followed by re-installing Win 7. )

I want to upgrade to Win7 on dv6276us machine - If I do a "clean install" with an oem dvd rather than an upgrade using and upgrade dvd will the HP features work or will this be like changing a mother board and have all the "tatto" issues associated with that issue?

Hi I have A HP Pavilion dv9205tx Notebook and did a clean windows 7 install. I have now lost the webcam. Can you tell me where or if I can get the driver as I no longer have any of the original HP stuff, which sadly I don't think I can get back

Thanks Daniel for the steps. I was able to upgrade most of these, but still stuck on the HP Quick launch button software.
Post upgrade to windows 7, I was able to use the quick launch buttons (for volume control, play, DVD etc.. ) for the first week, post which this has stopped working. Its been over a month now and still stuck with these buttons not working.
Was delighted seeing your messages and tried to upgrade to the latest version (sp47275), but to no avail. Could you please help.
I am using Win7 32-bit on a HP DV6433cl
Thanks!

Hi,
Perform a Hard Reset:
1. Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and media cards.
2. Disconnect the AC power adapter, remove the battery, and then press and hold the power button for at least 1 minute.
3. Reconnect the AC power adapter (do not connect the battery), press the Power button and check results.
