HP Spectre x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

To all those tech folks our there,

I'm in a bit of dilemma as to which HP spectre x360 I should go for.

I have the following two models in my list,

http://store.hp.com/NetherlandsStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=E9M48EA&opt=ABH&sel=NTB

http://store.hp.com/NetherlandsStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=Y5U99EA&opt=ABH&sel=NTB#specs

As far I know the w030nd model is the latest one and the  4200nd is an older version (this is a bit confusing to me anyways, HP doesn't add the released date to the specification page, nor does it have meaning behind model numbering)

I see that one major difference is that 4200nd has the 6th gen processor and the w030nd has the 7th gen processor, but I am not sure if it indeed makes a lot of difference.

I currently have the 4159nd and getting a new HP spectre as I am not happy with the display color (especially the white balance, it doesn't look white and looks more yellowish). The reason I 4200nd in the list is because I see that it has a QHD display with intel Iris 540 where as my current 4159nd has a FULL HD IPS display with Intel Graphics 520. This is where I think the 4200nd makes a big difference, but how about the w030nd, does it have a nicer display than 4200nd and 4159nd? On paper I see that the w030nd has a FHD IPS display with intel Graphics 620.

Any thoughts on this will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Vinod

Yeah it's hard to pick between those two models.  Typically, with the new model out, one would hope the older model would be discounted.  But with only 100 euro difference, better to go with the new model.

While the Intel Iris GPU is faster than the 620, the current intergrated graphics line in Kaby Lake processors is a highly capable solution.  What graphic intensive applications do you normally  do on your laptop?  I'm playing the latest Resident Evil 7 game on Envy x360 with i7500u with Intel HD620 GPU without performance issues.

Also the larger 1TB SSD is more attractive on the newer model.

Thanks for the response.

To be honest I am not even a gamer, I am more of a developer coming from Macbook pro Retina.

You might wonder why I worry about Graphics then, well I am used to the high resolution of my Macbook Retina display and how clear the text is. Also the color balance on my retina is pretty incredible, I know Spectre is quite good but I am having issues with white color balance (or how ever it's called).

If you check the image I've posted below, you've see a clear difference in between both displays, the display on right which belongs to my HP Spectre looks more warm and yellowish.

So my main concern here is to get another HP spectre that's not going to have the same issue.

I still don't get why I can never view posted images on this forum, so can't see the comparison you posted.  But my Envy with QHD panel is ever so slightly warmer in colour than my iPhone 5 display.  But yeah, the super high resolution this panel is very nice even though it is using a pentile matrix display.
