I ordered a Corsair 64GB kit without realizing my z420 was expecting ECC memory.

Is it possible to use non-ECC memory with the z420?

Here's the quote from HP in the attached Z420 memory configurations document, and there is great info also in the attached Z workstation memory White Paper.  Based on what they say, the answer is no.  Corsair is a great company, and should help you out on this issue with exchange or refund, I would believe.  See the two attached PDFs.

Non-ECC memory does not detect or correct single-bit or multi-bit errors which can cause instability, or corruption of data, in the platform.
