I am trying to get this device imaged with our base Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit image. I am getting the following errors:
- In Device Manager, the Generic Bluetooth Adapter is throwing the error "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43)"
- In the Event Viewer, under Windows Logs - System, I am seeing the following pop up every 20 seconds or so: "The local Bluetooth adapter has failed in an undetermined manner and will not be used. The driver has been unloaded." EventID is 17 and the Source is BTHUSB.
I have tried many different drivers, both from HP and Intel and have applied two different hotfixes (KB982046 and KB980396) based on various other websites recommendations. I have tried the oft-repeated recommendations of disabling/re-enabling; uninstalling/scan for hardware changes & applying drivers; shutting down (unplug) for several minutes and restarting system. Currently, I am only applying the NIC and USB drivers and am still seeing this problem, although I have also applied all drivers with no difference.
A couple of questions:
- Has anyone else seen this and fixed it?
- Could the USB drivers be the issue? I am using the USB drivers otherwise I cannot use my keyboard/mouse.
- Any other suggestions?

Hello Keslaa,
Have you updated the BIOS firmware and Chipset drivers as well? You can get these from the support site, under drivers and downloads:
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=8741495&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4060
Additionally, in the device manager, I know you've already uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, scanned for hardware changes, rebooted, etc. Have you also tried to "Update the driver software", "browsed computer for driver software" and searched the C:\ drive? I have seen a similar issue before and this resolved the issue for that unit. The computer was looking elsewhere for the driver and did not find the most recent one installed.
Hope this helps!

Try installing HP Support Assistant and have it scan for any available updates:

I just reimaged the machine with nothing but the NIC and USB drivers again. I just installed the HP Support Assistant, ran the scan and am now installing the drivers one by one. The first to install was the chipset drivers. I will update as I complete the installs.
After the install of the chipset and a reboot, the same issue persists. Installing the Management Engine Components next

Hi:
The generic bluetooth adapter needs the corresponding model bluetooth driver for the model wireless network adapter your PC has.
The bluetooth radio is a chip on the wireless card.
That is why I asked for the model wlan card your PC has installed.
I can't help you get the driver you need without that info.
