If I send a task with the HP Device Manager it arrives at the client, but at the server the task never go to finish. It's stuck on Processing 100%

I'm using the 4.5 version on both.

Rick_ICMT,

I suspect your issue is that have is that the Thin Client cannot locate the HPDM gateway. Do you have DHCP option 202 or DNS "HPDM-GATEWAY" configured? Without one of these the thin client wil not be able to locate the HPDM gateway after reboot.

I suspect you used "Discover" to locate the devices. This is quick and easy but it can hide issues like the one you are reporting. A good test is to power down the Thin client, delete it from the console and then power the thin client cback on. If it appears back in the console, you are probably ok. If not, it points to the DNS/DHCP settings are required.

Please update to V4.5 SP4 ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/hpdm/Software/4.5/ as a first step but then setup the DHCP or DNS entries as per the the extensive user guide which can be found here ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/hpdm/Documentation/UserGuide/4.5/

I had this issue - disable windows firewall.

Good get. Firewall can produce this issue.

This is another reason I hate to use "discover". If the DHCP or DNS entries are in place, the Thin Client should Discover the HPDM Gateway and appears in the console, rather than the other way around. If the Thin Client appears in the console, this is a very good test that the firewall is not getting in the way.

For those looking for rules rather than to disable the firewall on the HPDM Gateway/Server, I have attached a TXT file that can be renamed to .CMD and used to open HPDM ports in the Windows firewall.

Please ready and evaluate that these rules are appropriate for your environment. There is no warranty on this CMD file. It is provided AS IS.

Where do you add in the dhcp/dns entries. I cant find anything in the HPDM manual or anywhere in the HPDM console to add them

Find the White Paper entry through DM Console ->Help -> White Paper

WP_HPDM4.7_DHCP_CONFIGURATION is the one you're looking for.

Note: We will have some update on DNS Entries, please wait for the WP of 4.7 SP6.

I disabled the firewall on the gateway server and put a dns record in for HPDM-GATEWAY and now clients are finding the gateway on their own and tasks are completing
