I have HPDM running on the server.   The console on the server logs in fine with localhost as server address.

Now on my laptop, I have just the console installed.  Upon the login screen,   I put in server name, username, and password.

I have also tried IP of server and multiple user accounts that I have confirmed good on the server.

Then I get the generic login error from HPDM:

HPDM Server Connection Error

Error connection to Device Management Server, Device Management Server may be down.

The connection with the Device Management Server has been broken,

press 'OK' to reconnect, or press 'Cancel' to exit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My guess would be firewall issue.

On the server, check to make sure ports 1099,40002,40005,40006 & 40009 can get through. Especially port 1099 for the Remote Proceedure calls.

On the PC running the remote Console, make sure ports 5500 & 40004 are open.

I've attached a script that will open all ports needed for HP Device Manager. You can run this (as admin) on both the server and the console or edit for just the component that is needed.

I have an HPDM running on the server and installed a remote HPDM Console on another server,
in the remote HPDM Console i am not able to establish a connection. I tried to switch off the firewall and make sure on HPDM Server the ports 1099,40002,40005,40006 are listening, and on the other server the Ports 5500 & 40004 are open.

Once i try to login in to the Remote HPDM Console im getting the error:
Error connection to Device Management Server, Device Management Server may be down.
The connection with the Device MAnagement Server has been broken.

Any help wold be appreciated

Are you able to connect with local Console? Are you use the FQDN for server address?

Please make sure the same address can be connected with Local Console.

Please set the log level to DEBUG and attache the Console.log for troubleshooting.
