HP Z420 Workstation
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

It's referring to this one, but it's alreary solved so I couldn't post/answer/ask anymore..

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-PCs-Workstations-and-Point-of-Sale-Systems/Processor-Options-...

My question is exactly the same.  Why wouldn't support other E5-26xx(v2) series, if you check closely in

here (Quick specs - page 3): http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c04111468.pdf

and in

this document(hp spare parts): http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c03287...

you'll see that even with factory config there is a "Intel Xeon E5-2650 v2 processor" as an option.

So, can you upgrade to E5-26xx(L) v2 (or other LGA2011 processor)...

Thank you,

Bogdan

Z420 and Z620 use identical bioses and therefore contain the same microcode. It therefore stands the reason and has been proven on multiple occassions that any CPU in the Z620 quickspecs will also work on the Z420:

Things to bear in mind is the bootblock consideration (2013 will run v1 and v2, 2011 only v1).
