HP Prime Graphing Calculator

Hi everyone!

Yesterday I bought my new HP Prime Calculator.
When I try turning it on there was no response. So I tought the calculator needed charge so I plugged in, turned it on and find out the battery status was 100%.

Then I unplugged the calculator and tried turning it on again and I had the same issue. The calculator does not turn on unless it is plugged in to electricity. I already left charging the calculator for almost an hour and I get the same results.

Is my calculator defectuose?

Thank you for your help!

Hi!, Anabel31416:

Welcome, to Forum !.

Check, with this all instruction's, from ... http://www.hpmuseum.org/cgi-sys/cgiwrap/hpmuseum/archv021.cgi?read=251410

For update, your version, you can download this (version 8151) and connectivity kit, from ... ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/calculators/Prime/

You must ...

  1. Connect your HP Prime calculator via the supplied USB cable (directly connected, do not use a USB hub).
  2. Start the HP Connectivity Kit.
  3. Click the Calculator tab.
  4. Right-click the name of the HP Prime you wish to update (it would be the one you connected before starting this procedure).
  5. Make a note of the version number and then click the OK button.
  6. Click on the Help Menu and select Check for update.
  7. Check for update pop-up box, check version number that it is newer than the one you wish to update.
  8. Then click download button.
  9. That's it, you'll see on the screen of your calculator the update being loaded and installed. Don't click too fast to get out of the HP Connectivity Kit, wait a minute or so after completion.

Also, there is a step in the Connectivity Kit where it is advised to back-up the version you had before you run the procedure, just in case. That way you have a way to re-cover.

If didn't solution, you can, go to commerce, what you purchase, for change or call to HP Support Assistance, more near your home, from ... http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Android/Phone-Assistance-in-the-world/td-p/5038024

Note: You can download and see the Guides/Manual's, from ... http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Prime-Graphing-Calculator/5367459/model/5367460/manuals/

If you have problems, with USB connector, for PC, see the solution, in the site previously indicated.

Thank you so much!

I did the steps but got stuck in the download. The dialog box said the download was done but then nothing happened in the calculator screen nor in my PC.
I think I'm in front of a damaged product so I'll contact my provider.

Hi!, Anabel31416:

1) Try, connect with cable connector, for charging/connectivity, en the USB, of PC. Start On and Check. Disconnect the cable and run, without connection.

2) Try too, remove the battery, installed, in the back cover (have one phillips screw) and by wait 24 hs. This action discharge the capacitor.

3) Can you indicate, what is the version, of your HP PRIME ?.

For find, you can press ?Help (USER) key, then press Tree and next step ... About HP PRIME

Kind Regards !.

Before contacting for support, try this simple thing:

1. Open the back little battery door by unscrwing the two screws you see.

2. Once open, remove the battery.

3. Plug the calculator in to the cable.

4. Put the battery back in.

5. Screw the two screws shut.

6. Leave it plugged in for a few minutes.

7. Unplug it.

Chances are your battery will now be charging and you will not immediately power off. If it stays on for at least a few seconds, charge it till full and then you should be good from now on. If it does power off again, go ahead and contact support.
