Body:

This computer’s hard drive died after one year of ownership.  HP repaired it and a year and 4 days later the hard drive again has died.  I have used it less this time as I was wary of the previous issue it had, wherein I lost over 3000 irreplaceable pictures.  I am very disappointed with this product after spending $1700.00 purchasing it.   I have read a few different forums on this machine and it seems to be a prevalent issue that the hard drive is unreliable and breaks down frequently.  I am very unhappy with the product and with HP's attitude towards the issue.  They are supposed to be one of the top tier companies for computers and I have had nothing but reoccurring issues with this machine, and the company seems to have no problem installing inferior hard drives into expensive computers.

I expected the replaced hard drive to last more than a year after they fixed it.  I was amazed when I spoke to a Tech2 at HP who informed me that the replaced hard drive had only a 6 month warranty, rather than the year warranty I had with the other drive.  I was pretty much floored when this same Tech2 told me that there is a high probability the HD would go out on this model.

I again reported this to the Better Business Bureau and they have informed me that since it is a second duplicate issue that I must contact the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs.  The only reason the repair was done with the first issue was that I had to report HP to the Better Business Bureau.  I do hope with a complaint filed with the Dept of Consumer Affairs, that maybe HP will honor their supposed quality in products and repair this computer for a second and final time.
