Re: HP DC7100CMT graphics driver not found(Windows 7)

Hi:

The onboard video adapter in the dc7100 is not windows 7 or windows vista capable.

If you can get the driver below to work, you still will not have Aero.

You can try this Vista driver:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=US&swItem=vc-47107-1&mode=4&idx=0&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=3352967

When you run it you will get an OS not supported error. Close that.

Go to your device manager. Click on the display adapter. Click on the driver tab. Click on Update driver. Select the Browse my computer for software method and browse to C:\SWSetup\sp34550, and see if it loads that way.

If it doesn't try the notebook vista driver below and do the same thing as above: Browse to C:\SWSetup\sp34749

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=US&swItem=ob-47264-1&mode=4&idx=0&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=3352967

If neither of those drivers work, you will need to purchase a windows 7 capable PCIe x16 video card.

Dear. nuutti8

Would you mind explaining what an Antec Sonata case has to do with an HP DC7100CMT?

Which version of Windows 7?

Do you have a recovery disc set?  (See disc #2 for the original drivers).

Kind regards,
erico

Re: HP DC7100CMT graphics driver not found(Windows 7)

Hi,

Here is a link to the web support portal for your hardware. Windows 7 drivers are unfortunately not available for your PC at HP.Your PC is supported only for Windows 2000 and Windows XP. That means that finding a chipset driver will not be easy.

Kind regards,

erico

Now it works. I have an ASUS Radeon HD 6850 graphics, and aero works as well.

Wow!

I didn't think you could put that new of a graphics adapter in a dc7100.

Good to know.

Enjoy!

It does have a PCI-Express x16 slot.

Re: HP DC7100CMT graphics driver not found(Windows 7)

Yes, I am aware of that, in as much as I installed a PCIe 2.0 nVidia 8400 GS in my dc7100 CMT.

But it is only a PCIe 1.0a and that card is a PCIe 2.1. Many times these 2.1 cards are incompatible with the older PCIe slots.
