Installed an MSI R6450 2GB graphics card. I want to connect a second monitor

I have an HP Pavilion p6610f, and have installed an MSI R6450 2GB graphics card. I want to connect a second monitor (actually a HD TV), how do I go about such a task?  I the original graphics card still operational?

Hi,

The video card that you are using has HDMI, DVI and VGA.  Please confirm that is correct.

I would recommend that you connect your monitor with DVI.  Is DVI supported on the monitor?

Then connect the TV using a HDMI cable.  If you want to route audio to your TV then you will need to change that in the Sound Control Panel. When you change the default sound to HDMI, your PC will go silent.

This article should be helpful.

My TV does not have a DVI connection.  What about a DVI to VGA adapter, would that be a viable alternative? The original video card seems to be inactive, is there a way to activate both cards?

HI,

The on board video processor is disabled when a video card is used.

Please answer my above questions.

What video ports are on the TV and on the monitor?

You are correct about video connections on the card. The monitor support both VGA and DVI, the monitor is an HP L1940T. The TV is a Vizio with VGA and HDMI connections.

Hi,

Does the card support all three video ports (DVI, HDMI and VGA)?  The MSI card that I looked at did supports three types of output ports.
