HP 2 TB Simple Save
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought an HP 2 TB Simple Save USB3 automatic hard drive and have had great service from it in association with my Dell desktop for some years now.  Recently we moved house, downsized and discarded the desk top in favour of a more modern Dell laptop, recently upgraded to Windows 10.  Problem is the hitherto silent operation has changed.  There's a quite loud chime whenever the Simple Save is active. Ie, at start up and whenever it kicks in after 5 minutes of inactivity on the laptop.  Of course I could just turn off the speakers but I often run some music and the chime just ploughs over the top of whatever I have on.  The manual doesn't help me.  Can you?
