Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a hp w2207h monitor. It has a output audio port. It works when I attach it to laptop and as it plays the youtube on this monitor, the sound comes from it too. My question, shouldn't I be able to connect my studio powered speakers to that audio port on monitor as well. This external monitor is playing youtube, I tried but the sound comes only from laptop? What needs attention here?

@12Writer -- within the Windows "settings", select the "Audio" section. Select the "Audio Output" section.

There should be a pull-down that lets you choose from:

  1. internal speakers
  2. green-coloured audio-output port
  3. your external monitor (audio will be carried over the HDMI cable between your computer & your monitor)

Also, on your monitor, use the OSD (On Screen Display) buttons to choose between the monitor's speakers and the audio-output port on the monitor.
