Headphone jack is NOT a line-out therefore it is NOT compatible with Line-in on your receiver wiring could cause short circuit.

Sparking and burning out equipment when connecting to the headphone jack suggests a serious electrical issue with the PC. It could be a faulty internal component, wiring issue, or improper grounding. I recommend contacting HP support immediately to investigate the problem thoroughly and ensure your safety. Avoid using the affected equipment until the issue is resolved to prevent further damage or potential hazards.
