Product: Pavilion dv7-6187cl
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

The BIOS download for my computer is corrupt.  I cannot boot into Windows, so I must use the utility to place the BIOS file on a USB drive, which would enable me to navigate to that file from the UEFI environment.

 

The only file I can download is a utility meant to either place the file on the hard drive, or (in the case where you cannot boot to Windows) on a USB stick so that it can be taken to another computer and found from the UEFI.  But when I run the utility, I get error messages.  I have tried to run it on 3 different Windows computers, and I have tried to run it in DOS.  The download has got to be corrupt.

 

I need to get the uncorrupted downloads.  Please, I need either BIOS F.1A RevA or BIOS F.1B RevA -- the best would be BIOS F.1B RevB, which exists, and works on my computer, but is not listed in the drivers for my computer.

 

I even tried moving all of the files into a bootable DOS USB, and the updater wil not run in DOS.  WTH??

I understand that you have an HP Pavilion dv7-6187cl Entertainment Notebook PC and the BIOS downloaded on the computer is corrupt and therefore the laptop is cannot boot to Windows. I read that you are looking for the correct BIOS update to fix this issue. Is that correct?

 

I would like to know if you have tried to recover the BIOS by pressing the key combinations of the laptop keyboard. This does not require a download. I suggest you to review the steps from this link to roll back or recover the BIOS.

 

If the issue persists then the only option to contact HP phone support to explore the hardware service options for your laptop. Because a failed BIOS update could have adverse effects on the motherboard.
