So we had a power out last night and my PC was on. Once i noticed and turned it back on i am now stuck in 'Preparing to Repair' screen, then blue screen, then freeze (or restart by it'self ) or i have to hard power down then it all repeats again.
I have created a Win10x64 media tool startup on a USB from another computer, Now i cannot get my bios to register the USB, ( Sometimes its there, sometimes its not ) in bootable preference menu in my bios.
I have looked at all the vids on youtube ( been trying to fix for about 10hours now ) and they are all of the menu you get to with the advanced option.. I cant even get to that stage 😞
I've tried all usb port for my startup USB
tried updating my bios firmware ( it won't show the .exe file when i navigate to the correct folder the updates in )
Tried power button and Shft together
I'm at the point now where i just wanna try and wipe it so i have a usable comuter again
Any help would be really appreciated
Thanks!

My recovery partition was not being reconised ( hence the loop! )
I had a lot of different error messages occur and I got so fed up I decided to follow a guide ( was reluctant to open my case ) to resetting ram, disconnecting my HDD and graphics card. I'm not sure which one fixed my repair loop error but I was able to get to the options screen to restore/reset.
I have fixed the problem

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.
I understand that you have an HP Pavilion 500 computer and after a power outage, the computer does not boot into Windows. It' stuck on "preparing to repair" screen and then a blue screen and then it freezes. You have to manually power down the computer. I read that the computer does not boot from a USB recovery kit created from another computer. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.
I would like to know the following information to assist you better:
- The exact product model no. This link will help you to find the model no: http://hp.care/2bygf7l
- Do you see any other error message or error code on the blue screen?
- Have you tried performing a recovery using the recovery partition on the hard drive (Refer to "Recovery when Windows 10 does not start correctly")?
Meanwhile, I did some research and request you to perform the following steps to isolate and fix the issue:
- Power off the computer.
- If it is a laptop then remove the battery out.
- Disconnected AC adapter from the computer.
- Disconnect any other devices
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.
- Power ON the computer.
If the issue persists, then let us confirm that the hardware is good and run the hardware diagnostics:
If all hardware tests on the hard drive and memory pass then you may perform a BIOS rollback and restore the BIOS to the last good known configuration.
I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know how it goes. Cheers! 🙂
