Pavilion Desktop - 550-319nf
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I'm trying to install my fairly old European standard Hauppauge TV Tuner (model WinTV Nova-T-USB2) on my recent HP Pavilion Desktop (bought new in December 2016) and I am having problems. The tuner has worked excellently for a number of years on my PCs using Windows XP and  7 and still works OK with WintTV8 on my old Laptop  running XP?

When I plug the tuner into my  new PC's USB ports (be it on the front or rear panels) and start to scan TV channels, the PC hangs up with the first sign of trouble being the USB mouse cursor freezing. After a few seconds the PC reboots, no matter what mode of USB energy use I have chosen. It would appear to be a power problem, unless of course the tuner's driver is posing a problem. As there are no longer BSODs, is there a way of forcing the PC to identify possible fatal errors before rebooting? Thanks for your help.
