So I received by brand new Omen just a few days ago and set it up yesterday. Straight out of the box, without doing ANYTHING to it, it has been randomly freezing and restarting. The freeze happens anywhere from 5 minutes to 15 minutes after starting or after the last reboot. I really want to emphasize that before I made any updates or changes, the computer had this problem straight out of the box.
I looked up windows updates thinking that might solve it and updated as recommended. That did not solve the issue.
I used the HP Support Assistant to see if there were any HP updates. Nope, the scan revealed that there were no updates.
The computer has restarted several times with me just browising looking for a solution. It restarted twice as I tried to write this post.
I am sooo fustrated. I spent a pretty penny on my brand new computer and it doesn't work straight out of the box.
Please help.

Assuming it's a brand new computer and covered under HP warranty the right and only thing to do is to raise this with HP Support as soon as possible so they can log a case and guide you through investigation and advise the next steps.
I went through similar process myself, but only after one month assuming (like you) that it's OS-related - which was uneccesary. It was hardware-related and I ended up with new motherboard & graphic card that were fitted by HP Support, with PC sent to them for investigation and repair.
The good news is problems were sorted and PC is absolutely okay now.

That is good advice that was give to you by @krzemien.
The issue could be easily be failing memory, motherboard or overtemperature issue.
Have you tried running the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics?
From an off condition, press the power button and then start tapping the F2 key to invoke the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
Initially run the long system test and then in the Components section run the memory test.
When you start it up can you hear the cooling system fan running?

So, I think I resolved the issue. When I set up the computer I inserted a usb wifi. Then I turned on the computer for the first time and it wasn't working properly.
Well at some point the computer stopped recognizing the wifi I inserted and used the default that was included in the computer. The restarts stopped.
I looked up the driver for the usb wifi and updated it. The restarts haven't happened in a day. Just for referrence the wifi I had and needed a driver update for was:

I'm surprized a tiny little usb insert could rain so much havoc. I'll post again if it comes back.
