After a windows 10 update, my pc doesn't start after a shutdown.
Not sure exactly which one(s) but I've done a couple clean installs of Windows and each time, at a certain update(s) the issue returns.
It starts fine if I restart.
After shutting down and then turning the pc back on, it hangs at the windows logo. (the 4 blue boxes after the boot menu.
I'll long press the power button until it shuts down, and then press the power button and it starts up fine.
Any help will be appreciated,
James

Hi! @JamesJ1, thanks for the response.
As you mentioned that one particular update is causing trouble to your PC.
I would suggest you wait until the next update is released my Microsoft hope that glitch should be taken out in the next update.
Have a great day! 🙂

Hi! @JamesJ1, Welcome to HP forums.
I understand that your PC doesn't start after shutdown.
Please try few steps recommended below.
1. Run Windows Update
2. Right Click: Windows icon in the lower-left corner of the taskbar
3. Select: Control Panel
4. Select: Trouble Shooting
5. Under System and Security Select: Fix Problems with Windows Update
6. Select: Trouble Shoot as an Administrator
If there were issues they should be fixed and you’ll see a green circle with a checkmark indicating so. Close the window, restart your PC and monitor for shutdown speed by initiating shut down again.
7. Under System and Security Select: Run Maintenance Tasks
8. Select: Trouble Shoot as an Administrator
If the above steps do not fix the issue try the step mentioned below.
9. Right Click: Windows icon in the lower-left corner of the taskbar
10. Select: Search
11. Type: Reset This PC. This should reset your PC back to factory settings.
Make sure you backup all the files before doing a system reset.
Please refer this document to troubleshoot no power issues: http://hp.care/2bBaea9
Please let me know the outcome!
Cheers! 🙂

The trouble shooting didn't work.
It fixed something with Windows update and found no issues with teh Maintenance Tasks.
I tried te reset optiopn a couple times.
It doesn't put my pc to the factory settings it simply revetted top a previouis buid.... this eliminated the issue.
But, when Windows 10 installs the following update,
Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Ver. 1511,
The startup issue returns.
