It all started when the PC kept making a clicking noise and then it froze. Windows ran automatic startup repair.
Now PC runs okay on startup but when I open google chrome it slows down to the point where it might as well be frozen. Mouse still works with the perpetual loop cursor.
I ran the hard disk check on the HP Basic System Diagnostics menu and chose the extensive check option. The results on the screen showed:
SMART Check : PASSED
Long DST : FAILED
FAILURE ID : 0G832C-0008K3-QFFX1F-61BS03
Hard Disk 1
Does this mean the Hard Disk needs to be replaced and is there no way to self-fix it?
Thank you for your time and consideration.

@Edbert, It's great to hear from you again. I was much awaiting for your response.
As you mentioned after disconnecting the printer the clicking noise on your printer stopped.
But still, as per the diagnostics the hard drive on your PC has failed you have to replace the hard drive in order to get the PC functioning again.
Please contact HP and get the support options.
