Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

The normal boot will only go as far as the screen logo then goes blank. A x000000e error is reported. I'm limited in the tools that will work in safe mode. I have tried a clean boot, dskchk, and the utility that checks for missing or corrupted windows files. I am further hampered by the dvd not working. The device manager sees the dvd as OTHER, and the bios sees it correctly. I have tried a USB dvd unit but it is also not recognized  as a dvd. When I set the bios to boot from the dvd it skips it and goes to the hard drive for the boot.

Out of ideas, any suggestions.

Hi! Are you trying to format and set up new installation of windows?

No, but I found the problem to be the video driver was hanging me up. As for the DVD, it needs to be replaced.

Thanks everyone.
