Happy New Year To Everyone on the forum,
I have a NEW ( to Me ) HP Compaq elite 8200 computer with Windows 7 profesional. Lately at the end of the day, when I go to the shut down tab, it will go for quite a " LONG TIME" in the "LOGGING OFF" mode. this last time it took over 45 minutes for the computer to shut off completely. I hope that this is a simple fix.
Thanks to one and all

Hello @Beep01
Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. Happy New Year !
This is usually not a one time easy fix.
I have seen such issues and this caused by some of these things (or combination of them):
- corrupted Windows Registry entries
- faulty network drivers
- some software that fails to shutdown properly
- some network aware apps with "incorrect" behaviour during shut down
I have no idea what kind of apps you have on your PC. Here are some things you can try:
- update your drivers - visit HP's web site >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers
Select your model, download and install the latest drivers (especially for network adapters)
- ensure your apps run the latest versions .
- ensure you have closed your apps before **bleep**ting down the PC
- try to stop the network (Internet connection) before shutting down the PC - for example:
(1) if you run on a LAN connection/Ethernet cable - unplug the cable before shutting down the PC
(2) if you use wireless connection (wi-fi), disconnect from the router/modem before shutting down the PC
