Elitedesk 800 G2
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello,

Since I could not find one of these models with a dedicated GPU, and my company mandates the use of these workstations for deploying, I had to upgrade it by myself. So I purchased a separate Gigabyte GTX 1050. I chose this graphics card because it does not require any external power connectors.

However, after installing it, the workstation does not POST any more. It just spins up for 5-6 seconds, beeps once and then restarts.

Do you guys have any idea if the 800 G2 has a GPU whitelist in the BIOS? Or if it is related to the vBIOS?

Thank you.

PS: Specs list if you need them: i7-6700, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD (Samsung I think) and the aftermarket Gigabyte GTX 1050 OC 2GB.

Hey, George61!

What PSU do you have in your HP 800 G2?

If I'm not wrong, then standard in those HP models are 280W. If yes, then your PSU is too weak to run GTX 1050.

GeForce GTX 1050:

Recommended System Power (W): 300W
