HP Optical Wireless Mouse
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi - My Mom just dropped the optical wireless mouse that came with her HP Envy 23" Touchscreen all-in-one.  The mouse no longer works.

Both the keyboard and the mouse are wireless and use a shared USB receiver.  The keyboard still works, but the mouse doesn't work at all.

I'm assuming this isn't fixable, so here's my question: When I buy a new mouse, do I need to buy a new USB receiver as well?  Or will the new mouse automatically work with the existing USB receiver?

Thanks in advance for any help/insights anyone can provide!

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

Any wireless mouse you purchase, by itself, will come with its own wireless receiver.

When you buy a keyboard/mouse combo, they come with a single received that works for both.

The new mouse MIGHT work with your existing receiver -- the only way to know is to try it.

Thanks for the response, WAWood!

As it turns out, I ended up buying Mom a bluetooth mouse this time around, just to avoid having to possibly use up another USB port on the computer.

It's working quite well, so far!
