HP7-1410 Desktop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently bought a Samsung UHD monitor to use but cannot get a display on my screen. Display does not show a signal. I only have DVI ports on my Desktop and the Monitor uses a HDMI connection so I bought two different DVI to HDMI cables and both do not work. Called Samsung support and after a few tests they said the port on the desktop was the problem. I connected the Display to a DVD player HDMI-HDMI and it works fine. Do I need a differnet driver or something else to make this work?

@LouG611, welcome to the forum.

There are two DVI ports (-D & -I):

Figure : Back I/O ports

1. USB 2.0: 4
2. LAN (Ethernet)
3. DVI-D
4. DVI-I
Audio center/subwoofer
Audio rear speaker out
Audio side speaker out
Audio line-in
Audio line-out
Microphone

You can see these ports in 3 & 4 above.  Make certain that you are using the appropriate adapter for the DVI.  I don't believe that you will get UHD resolution without a DisplayPort connector.  You should read your User Guide to see if this is correct.

Thanks for your reply. Since I can't get any display at all, the port I'm currectly using is a DVI-I port. I'm connnecting a DVI-D connector to a HDMI to the monitor and it does not work. Do you think it would help or make a difference if I used a DVI-I adapter on the DVI-I port  instead on the computer side? I'm just looking to geta display at this point. I would like to get UHD but if its incapable I will accept that. Just need to get a picture on the monitor.

You are welcome, @LouG611.

I can't imagine why the way you have it connected isn't working.  I believe that it should be.  I suggest contacting Samsung's Tech Support to see if they can give you a solution.  They are the experts on their products.
