I am experiencing performace issues related to hard drive access that I believe are related to the Raid. I now backup on the cloud so the Raid is redundant and wish to remove it. How do I disable Raid 1 so the computer sees both drives indepently without losing or degrading the hard drive data. The second hard will be reformated and used for increased data storage.
Note: Last year due to a virus I used Windows 10 to completely wipe the computer and manually reload software. The Intel Raid driver loaded but the Intel Matrix Storage Manager is not compatible with the newer driver. I can access the Raid at intial boot up but not being familiar with operation, I do not wish to make a mistake I cannot recover from.

Hello PhoenixAsh,
The first thing I would do is to make a full backup of the data stored on the RAID disks and this backup should be stored on a third location. Then you can proceed with the breaking of the RAID 1. Since you said that the RAID was managed by an Intell driver, I assume that the RAID controller is made by Intel. I think on their support site it has been explained in details how to delete a RAID 1 Mirror without losing data. You have to locate the RAID utility in the BIOS and disable it.
If you are running a software RAID it should be easier to disable too.
Hope that I helped.
