Obtained my new EliteDesk 800 G1mini and was able to access the UEFI when I first started by hitting any key at the prompt and entering the UEFI. Afterwards I went to the HP web site and updated software that required updates, including the Bios to 2.0.7A. Also ran Windows update, installed Symantec security software, turned on TPM associated encryption and other security features required by my employer.

Now, whenever I start/restart the computer, within the one or two seconds it says press esc or any key, no matter when I start repeatedly pressing esc, f10 or any key on my USB keyboard the system goes directly to Windows 8.1.

I tried shutting off Symantec and encryption. Not sure what else to do to get into the UEFI, esp since the fans are running very load and I'd like to slow them down.

Any solution would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi AZHPuser,

Welcome to the HP Forums.

So that the HP community can help you better, please help by answering a few questions:

Are you using a USB keyboard or a PS2 (analog) keyboard?

I know it is a strange question, but over the years I have learned to always keep a PS2 Keyboard around because to fix this exact problem.

Just a thought, please let us know.

Thanks for choosing HP!

Hi, thanks for the reply. USB keyboard as mentioned above. These new computers don't have PS2 anymore, espcially in these new small form factor computers.

In case anyone else has this problem besides me, the following post says that if you're not using DVI for the monitor connection (via a VGA converter or the like) it can be hard to get into the setup menu. Before recently switching to an HDMI connection, I could reach the setup menu, so it is probably the reason I'm having the problem.
