On the HP Z2 Mini ....

 

A) The Audio codec is listed as Realtek HD ALC 221-VB


What is that?  5.1 or 7.1 Surround Sound?  Is it even stereo at all?

B) If I want to use outside speakers - apart from monitor speakers - can I hook up the speakers through a USB port?  And if so, what settings are available?   2.0, 5.1 , 7.1?

 

If I use it for video editting, I will want good sound.

C) I really like the product, but the memory is atrociously overpriced.  Son of Apple Tax.  HP is in MacIntosh territory with that upgrade price.

 

 roughly $300 bucks to go from 16 GB to 32 GB  WHAT?!

  

I was thinking of ordering with only 4GB, and upgrading myself to 32GB for $238 - $90 ($148) to downgrade the memory to 4GB.

 

 

C-1) What are the pin #s (probably 260) , and what are top speeds possible for such memory? Does it have to be ECC?

 

C-2) Will this void the three year warranty, if I intall myself

 

C-3) The RAM seems to be easy to install...  Is it?

 

C-4) If I go with only 1 stick of 16 GB SODIM RAM, will that cause operating problems, as I could add a second stick myself if I need it.
