@elvir123,

As your aware, that machine is circa 2005/6.  I could not locate any manuals, or internal pictures.

Measure the fan using this guide.  Likely its an 80mm fan. Does it look like this?

If so, you still use the original heatsink screws.

Is it a standard 3 wire pin onto the motherboard ?

The actual fan has screws that attach to the heatsink. (Aluminum block with fins).  NO need to remove heatsink.

Hi:

Enter the following product number in the box at the link below, and you will get the parts list for that model.

RC664AA

http://partsurfer.hp.com/search.aspx

The parts are no longer available from HP, but perhaps you can find them on the secondary market by searching by the part number.

You will need to determine exactly which fan is making the noise.

For example...This is for the system cooling fan.

https://www.amazon.com/5188-3722-Hewlett-Packard-System-Cooling-Fan/dp/B00DUGDK0I

If you need the heat sink fan, according to this link, the fan is 80mm.

http://cpufans.ecrater.com/p/14759237/hp-5187-8413-cpu-processor-fan-80mm-x

You can also buy the whole fan/heatsink assembly...but if you can just get the fan, you would be better off, IMO.

However it seems less expensive to buy the whole fan/heatsink assembly, then just buying the heat sink fan.

If it matches up with the fan on your current heatsink, you can just swap them out--that is if this is the fan that is going out on you.

Hello, thanks for your responses. I am sorry, that I have not replied in a while.

Anyways, looking at my computer I am pretty sure its the heat sinking fanning (the one in the middle) that needs to be replace as it was vibrating.

However, the fan is a circle instead of a square. Will buying the heat sinking fans that you are recommending work, or will I also need to by the heat sink.

The Fan on the back has a label not shown in the picture, It is a SUNON MagLev KDE1209PTVX. I hope that helps.

What should be my next steps?

Thank you.

You're very welcome.

Sounds to me like you need the part in the link below unless you can find just a fan that matches the one you have now.

http://www.cwc-group.com/51878413.html

Then you can take the fan off the heatsink and put it on yours.

Otherwise if you want to replace the whole heatsink/fan assembly, you will also need to apply new thermal paste to the processor heat spreader.

Thank you for your response.

So, I rather not replace the heat sink, and apply thermal paste as, I dont know where to apply.

I would rather just buy the heatsink fan. Could I remove the fan from the heatsink shown in the link provided?

You'll have to figure out how it comes off, because I don't see how it does from your screenshot.

I would have to think that it detaches somehow though.

Once you know that, you can take the fan off the new part and switch them out.

Hi,

Your photo shows a fair amount of dust in the CPU heat sink.  You might want to use a can of compressed air to blow out the dust and then judge if you need additional hardware.

HP doesn't have a documented procedure to replace the CPU fan/heat sink.  However, the fan/heat sink assembly is fastened down by 4 mounting bolts that are not visible in your photo. The photo is somewhat of a parallax view and hence doesn't show the mounting bolts for the community to view.
