IEEE 1394a and e-SATA

Hi, I will be upgrading my HP to HAF X bec use the case is too small. My wondering if my motherboard N-Alvorix-RS880-uATX (Alvorix) has  IEEE 1394a and e-SATA ports. HAF X has these ports in the front and I'm wondering if I will be able to use these ports.

Your motherboard does not have 1394a support. The eSATA port on the case more than likely has a standard SATA plug on the other end that would plug into the motherboard (which has 4 SATA ports).

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served.
Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..

Re: IEEE 1394a and e-SATA

Hi Kokop,

The HAF X case does have an eSATA port in the front. You would need to connect that port to an available motherboard SATA port as described by wb2001.  You can also download HOTSWAP to assist you with mounting and dismounting (eject) of the external drive.  This process is not a big deal.  I do it all the time.
