I have a HP Pavilion Desktop - 510-p079 that I needs to have wireless connectivity. There is only one PCI-E (GEN 3) x16 slot. I installed a PCI wireless card and when I boot there is no video. I pull the card out and I get video again. There is very little documentation that I can find on this slot.
Is it dedicated to only be used for a video card?
Is there some setting or jumper to use the slot for something other than a video card?

Hi,
Your machine has two slots
- Form factor: uATX: 20.5x22.0 cm (8.1x8.7 in)
- Chipset: H170
- Memory sockets: 2 x DDR4
- Processor socket: LGA 1151
- Expansion Slots:
- One PCI-E (GEN 3) x16 socket
- One M.2 socket 1, key A
The first slot is for video, put anything on it system "thinks" you put new video card in an it will disable the Integrated Intel HD Graphics as mentioned on the above link
note:Integrated graphics does not work if a graphics card is installed.
And actually you don't need to add wireless card because your machine already has one (occupied the M.2 slot above)
Integrated Bluetooth 4.0 and Wireless LAN 802.11b/g/n featuring 2.4 GHz 1x1 technology
Interface: M.2
Transmission standards: 802.11 b/g/n
Single band: 2.4 GHz
Regards.
