I have received the BIOS file for the update. However the install won't work on Windows 10. It is looking for Vista. Is there a way to remove the image from the file so I can perform a DOS update?

Installing the latest 5.14 BIOS on the motherboard will not give you the needed UEFI settings utilized with WIndows OS's beyond 7 (ie 8 and 10). That is what I believe was your intended goal.

Hi Dean;
No, It didn't matter about the UEFI. I am trying to wring out the use of this desktop. I am financially tight and wanted to see if I could update the processor in the system. I did the research online, found what I thought was the MOBO in the system and ordered a new, reasonably priced CPU, Phenom II X4 9600. Apparently I got the MOBO wrong.
I searched for the M2N68-LA board. I am no stranger to hardware, but it took a while for me to settle between two boards. both IVY's. The components were both similar, but one allowed me to add a better processor and better ram. I spent the 70CND for the two and crossed my fingers. I wasn't 100% sure it was going to work. When the Ram arrived, I seated it and booted. Everything worked great. The system even upgraded to windows 10 ( without my even asking 😉 ).
So I had hope for the CPU; but I knew the BIOS was too old - 5.09. All the research showed that I needed 5.11 at the minimum. So that lead me to these boards.
I finally was able to create a DOS boot disk on USB, and get it to flash. Buuut, the system still won't POST with the new CPU. I don't have another MOBo to test it on so I'll have to go back to the drawing board and debate if spending money on a new MOBO. The situation I am running into is that for about 200$ CDN I can update the MOBO, RAM and CPU altogether. That will probably be the way I go.
Thanks for you help though.
