Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have been looking at many different cards and settled between a couple only to then be told they may not be compatible with my older hp desktop. My bios version is ami 7.06, 8/16/2011. If anyone can recommend or list graphics cards compatible with this pc, please let me know. I already have a new cx600 power supply so that won't be an issue.

The cards I was going to look more into are

Gigabyte radeon r7 370

Asus geforce gtx 750 ti 2gb strix

I was told these cards won't be compatible because of UEFI BIOS. I've looked and unless I'm missing something I do have legacy bios.

So only cards from 2011-12 would maybe work? If all newer cards do require UEFI why  would calling tech support change anything or are there exceptions?

Wish I had known about this at the time, I'd have gotten something better. Thank you for answering.

Yes, there are possibly exceptions depending on the manufacturer.  Some of them may have VBIOS updates that will allow their cards to work with a Legacy BIOS.  I know that EVGA has some updates for their cards.

Shaun, welcome to the forum.

You are correct to be concerned about any of the newer cards after the GT 640's.  All of them require UEFI instead of a Legacy BIOS.  Your best option is to choose a card and contact the manufacturer's Tech Support to assure that it will work with your motherboard.  This will save you time and money in the long run, since sellers pay for shipping to you and you pay shipping back if the card doesn't work.  I do this with all components that I buy these days.

Edit:How accurate is this website? It lists my motherboard being compatible but the website looks very basic so I am unsure of it.
