I am interested in installing a memory card reader in my XW4550 Workstation in the floppy drive slot. Anyone have info on this operation? HP does not list a unit for the XW.There are several card readers on ebay that are listed for the Pavillion desktops. Will these units connect and operate in my XW desktop? In looking at the wiring for the motherboard, I can not locate a socket to connec the cable from the card reader to the motherboard.

Memory card reader. Do you mean media card reader instead?
If you can find one that will fit in the 3.5" floppy slot that is a USB type, then that will work.
Connect it to an unused USB bus connection on the motherboard.
I have one of those around in one of my cabinets, but have found it far simpler to use the usb variety that plugs into an available USB port on the front of my desktop PC.
I can see where having a media card reader would be useful if you used it frequently, but otherwise it may be a bit of work with little utility returned. Thats just my take.
