Hi there,
Please help me chosing the right type of SSD for my PC. It's an HP Pavilion All-in-One - 27-a021 . The original HDD is a 1TB HDD 7,200 rpm.
Now I want to use both SDD and HDD to add a boost to the PC. But the problem is I don't know what is the right SDD interface should I select to upgrade. I want to use the SSD as the boot drive and the HDD as the data storage drive.
There are several types of SSD connection interface such as the M2-SATA, M2-PCIe, mSATA, or conventional SATA SSD.
Please advise on the right SSD interface so that I can buy the right one to upgrade hard drive for my PC while still keeping the other HDD.
Thank you very much!!!

You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with you. 🙂
I reviewed both the computer’s product specifications and the motherboard specifications.
It comes with only one M.2 Slot for a WLAN card replacement and does not have slots for SSD upgrades. So an SSD upgrade may not be possible.
It does give information about RAM and processor upgrades, though.
Please check the product specifications of the product from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-27-a000-All-in-One-Desktop-PC-series-(Touch)/1105903...
Please check the motherboard specifications also: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-27-a000-All-in-One-Desktop-PC-series-(Touch)/1105903...

Many thanks indeed. I really appreciate your very detail and well explained reply. It really helps indeed since I was going to buy an SSD.
Instead I'm replacing the stock HDD with an SSHD of the same capacity hoping that it will increase the performance some how.
I've installed that SSHD and commencing USB recovery process. Its really slow. It only goes 10% in nearly 2 hours.
Do you have any idea? Should I keep it running or perform a clean install?

Hi @ppcmaster,
I thank you greatly for your super quick response and accepting this as a solution. You've been simply superb to work with and to share this platform has been a privilege considering the level of technical skills that you possess.
Yes, the SSHD ( solid-state hybrid drive) will be a grat option and will definitely speed up things for you. It could be only 10% faster on paper. But it translates into a faster performance that normal hard drives because the SSHD chip retains all the cached instructions and loads them quickly into memory every time you boot up the computer.
I will include some third party links that will give you some insight into what it is all about.

An SSHD should do the trick for you. But you need to take into account the form factor, the type of slot that your motherboard has and the data and power cables should be compatible with the one you upgrade to.
I would suggest that you contact a local Best Buy or Staples technician in this regard for a second opinion before the upgrade. I genuinely hope it works out great for you and the unit stays healthy for a long time with the upgrade. 🙂
