Hey,

 

I have ordered a AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ AM2 (ADO5000IAA5DO) Dual-Core CPU 2.6 GHz to upgrade my Pavilion a1600n, and I am just curious to know if I am going to need to update BIOS on my desktop before installing the new processor, or if there is any steps I will need to take before inserting the new CPU or after I insert it into the desktop.

 

Thanks in advance, Also I am currently running Ubuntu 16.10 if that will have any effect on the answer given.

The CPU is listed, so that part is OK.  I would not suggest any BIOS change, if it were offered.

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served. Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..
