@tuckerg30, welcome to the forum.
Yes, the card in your link should work great with the existing components in the computer. You should see a very nice performance boost. If you want to increase performance even more, you should think about adding a SSD. I will never have another computer without a SSD as the boot drive.
Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

I like Samsung EVO 840/850's. Read the entire page in the link that I provided. It will give you the information that you will want to know about the EVO series. You should buy at least a 250 GB SSD. A 500 GB would even be better. An adapter is required to install the 2.5" SSD into a 3.5" HDD bay. The Samsung SSD's seem to work best with HP computers. The best way to install the SSD is following:
1) Leave the hard drive (HDD) in place as it came from the factory.
2) Install Samsung's Data Migration software on the HDD. It comes with the SSD or is available on Samsung's website.
3) Connect the SSD to another SATA connector on the motherboard:
These are the SATA ports on the motherboard.
4) Run the Data Migration software. It will ask you to identify the Target drive. This would be the SSD.
5) Once the data has been transferred you will disconnect the HDD and boot to the SSD. It should boot without making any changes to the BIOS. Once you know that the SSD is working properly, you should shut the computer off and connect the SSD where the HDD is connected on the motherboard.
6) You can reconnect the HDD to another SATA port and use it as a data drive. You will have to remove the operating system. Two OS's on a computer can cause boot problems.
7) After all of this is complete you can install Samsung's Magician software to tweak the SSD to run at peak performance.
If you have further questions, please let me know. Just take your time and you will do fine. This is the best way to learn what you want to know and you will be able to impress your friends with all of your knowledge.
