I am looking for a part name and/or number for my Compaq Presario SR1403WN. The part is the internal 'power button'. It consists of 3 sets of wires. One red/black, one green/black and one yellow/black. It goes from the (internal) power button to a board. The end that 'plugs' into the board is a small, black plastic 'plug' with 9 square 'holes'; one row has 5 square 'holes' and the other row has 4 square 'holes'.

We had a power outtage last night and my desktop, obviously, turned off. When I hit the power button to turn it back on, it would not do so. The green 'power light' on the BACK of the tower still lights up (green). But the unit will not power up. I have no idea if by replacing the above part will solve the problem. Does anyone have any input? Thanks!

@DawnieRotten,

The PSU might be damaged, use this diagnostic page.

@DawnieRotten,

As volunteers, we offer time and effort to assist with these inquiries. The only way to know if our efforts are of value is through the system of KUDO and Solution flags.

KUDO.JPGThis is the KUDO button.  Pressing the hand registers a "Thank You". The number increases. Click on the number (when  it's greater than Zero, and you see who said Thank You".

Accept as Solution.JPGThis is only seen by the Original Poster (called OP).  Only this OP can press that symbol.  It states that the inquiry has been solved. Anyone reading the post can see the OP question, and the immediate answer, as its contrasted.

Solution marker.JPGFinally, this little symbol marks any inquiry that has a Solution.

Thank you for your question.

Now, on to the inquiry.  Were you able to determine if you need a new power supply.  That was the link I asked you to follow to troubleshoot your issue.
